Nassau Bahamas

Nassau is the most popular Bahama island vacation destination and is just 50 miles off the coast of Miami. However, since Nassau is such a sought after travel destination, it is often necessary to make reservations for Nassau hotels well in advance. Nassau is known to be the most popular port of calls in the Caribbean, so its no problem finding the islands via cruise ship.

Nassau/Paradise Island is the capital of the Bahamas. Nassau is lovely, and the people are very nice. In the past, Nassau was a home base for notorious pirates and was burned to the ground by the Spanish three different times.

You can scoot around the island on a rented motor scooter, rental car or bicycle just be sure to drive on the left-hand side of the road, British style; or cruise out to spend the day scuba diving or snorkeling the coral reefs; go fishing for dolphin, tuna, wahoo or bonefish; play tennis or golf; take an Out Island excursion or just lay back to snooze in the sun. Speedy boat taxis are also available which connect with dockside limo services on both islands. Charter boats are also available for large scale fishing trips among the Islands.

Diving

Bahamas is the a great place to go scuba diving. One of the most popular scuba diving spots in the whole region is located on New Providence Island at Nassau. The main reason why scuba diving is so popular in Nassau and the as a whole is that the experiences are so varied. There is a scuba adventure for everyone in the no matter whether you are just beginning scuba diving or have been scuba diving for decades. The marine life that you will experience while scuba diving in the is just as varied as the geography you will encounter. Scuba diving in Nassau, Bahamas, is also ideal for beginners due to the crystal clear waters of the shallow depths. Snorkeling is a great activity for kids and those don't feel comfortable with scuba diving. scuba diving & snorkeling are just two of the many exciting activities you can do while on vacation in beautiful Nassau.

Fishing

Fishing in Nassau is one of the most exciting things to do while you're visiting the Islands. The island's unique position on the gulf stream make it a perfect place for deep sea fishing, reef fishing & bonefishing which seems to be the most popular, because the species can be caught year round, but are a challenge to hook. Fishing for bonefish can be done right from the sand banks in the clear waters offshore. This Caribbean delight offers great deep-sea and sport fishing opportunities as well. You're not going to find fishing this good at many other places in the world.

Shopping

The best buys and shopping bargains can be found among the straw craft items and souvenirs at the Straw Market. The largest and most well known Straw Market in the is located in Nassau near the Bay Street shopping center and George Street. The Straw Market of Nassau is open 7 days a week, from about 7 am to 8 pm. Tourists should be aware that the Straw Market of Nassau is run like a farmer’s market, with each vendor setting his or her own hours. Shoppers should note that although bartering is not a part of shopping at the hotels, it is very much a part of shopping at the Straw Market, and some of the other public markets in the Bahamas. It is easy to walk to Bay Street for shopping.

Nightlife

Many vacationers know Nassau as a vacation playground of fine white sand beaches and exciting nightlife. From casinos, cabaret shows, magic acts & acrobatics to moonlight dinner cruises or theatre performances, there are more options for nightlife in Nassau and Paradise Island than there are hours in the day to experience them all.

Nassau, is a perfect vacation spot for the whole family, a must-see vacation spot. Weather in Nassau is almost always warm and sunny making it the perfect destination for sun lovers looking for warm sunshine and tropical breezes.
